Patricia Jean Goddard

September 24, 1937 - October 27, 2022

Obituary

In loving memory of Patricia Jean Goddard, 85, who passed away on October 27th, 2022 surrounded by her adoring family after a hard-fought battle with an aggressive cancer. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, the abyss left by her absence will truly be impossible to fill.

Patricia was born on September 24th, 1937 to Clara and Christopher MacRae in Calgary, Alberta. Patricia’s family moved to Vancouver Island soon after, where she attended school in Esquimalt, worked in a candy store, met her husband to be and made many life-long friends.

In 1956, she married Conrad Allen Goddard and together they went on to have 4 children, Theresa (Bradley), Bret (Michele), Roxanne, and Pamela (Toby). Patricia was a wonderful, supportive and loving mother who was fiercely proud of her family, making sure to show her love as often as she could. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or life event and always made sure to call to let you know she was thinking of you. She loved gardening, golf and hummingbirds and was a fervent fan of the Vancouver Canucks.

Patricia was predeceased by her mother Clara, father Christopher, step-father Fred Dunphy, daughter Theresa and great-grandson Gabriel. Patricia is survived by her two sisters Derene (Earl) and Kathleen (Mick), 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren.

Patricia was a kind, caring and giving person who always had a brilliant smile or a word of advice for friends and strangers alike. Her smile was contagious, drawing in everyone around her and bringing joy wherever she went. She would meet a complete stranger and they would walk away as friends. She was inherently optimistic and had a vibrant love for life, friends and family. Patricia and Conrad were entrepreneurs who lived in many places in Alberta and British Columbia, but most recently resided in Kelowna and Summerland, BC where Conrad currently lives.

A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date for those who wish to join the family in celebrating her life.

I’ve known” mom Goddard” for nearly 50 yrs and she truly became a beloved mom, grandma, great grandma, and great great grandma. My fondest memories come from our days spent at Swiss Valley Ski Area. She was a force to be reckoned with as she managed family and staff who all soon became like family as she became mom to all. She was grandma to my children great grandma to my grandkids and great great grandma to my great grandkids. She is truly going to be missed by our families. Thanks mom for all the great memories. Love you!
