Albert C. Hoffman

October 19, 1930 - December 1, 2022

Obituary

Albert C. Hoffman passed away in his home peacefully on December 1, 2022. Al was born October 19, 1930 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, and as a young teenager moved to Flin Flon Manitoba with his family. In 1968, he went on a great adventure, moving to Penticton BC with his wife Betty and five children.Al will be sadly missed by his children: Lori Hoffman, Guy (Kathy), Susan Trower, Alan (Peggy), and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Al is predeceased by Betty (the love of his life), Debbie (his eldest daughter), Gary (his eldest son), Arty (his brother), Lily (his sister), and most recently by Brian (his son-in-law).His family will deeply miss hearing the stories about his younger days when Al enjoyed canoeing, fishing and hunting, and camping trips and picnics with his family. The house Al built as a young man, with help from family, is still standing in Creighton Saskatchewan. Also in his 30s, Al was a school trustee board chair. During his working days Al was a butcher (trained by his father Andy), a safety statistician at the Flin Flon mine, a painter, concrete finisher, and installed aluminum siding. For 15 years Al owned/operated Penticton Canvas where he worked alongside his wife and children selling camping gear, manufacturing bags, and creating custom awnings and canvas goods. Al enjoyed puttering in his home and at the age of 75, shingled the steep roof of his home on his own.Memorial donations to Albert’s favourite charities the Penticton Salvation Army Food Bank and the Vancouver Children’s Hospital, would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. A small celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dear Lori, Guy, Susan, Alan and family members.
We are most saddened to read about the death of Mr Al Hoffman.
Although it has been many years since my last visit with Al I now experience a sense of loss.
There are people in this world for unknown reasons can etch a special place in our memories.
Betty and Al in the most unassuming way did that for us. Many times we were the recipient’s of their laughter, hospitality and generosity.
May God Welcome, Bless and Love them.
Glenn and Anne Harty
