Anthony William "Bill" Binfet

September 15, 1941 - September 11, 2021

Obituary

Anthony William (Bill) Binfet passed into the Lord’s care on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the age of 79 in Penticton, British Columbia. Born on September 15th, 1941, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Bill was a larger-than-life personality who was defined by his compassion, enthusiasm, and irrepressible humour. His laughter and selfless energy will continue to resonate and comfort us as we learn to accept the loss of this truly incomparable husband, father, and brother. Bill leaves behind his wife and true love, Beverley (nee Carnation), his daughter, Paula Knetsch (Warren), and his son James (Faye). One of six children, Bill is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mae Binfet, his son, John, his daughter, Nicole, and his brother, Gordon. He will be missed by his sisters, Eileen (Greg), Jo, and Gina and his brother, Bob (Mae).

Bill grew up in Saskatchewan and Jasper, Alberta. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science Degree.  In 1965, he and Beverley were married in Regina, and through the years lived in Montreal, Winnipeg, Penticton, Victoria, St. Albert and Kelowna; ultimately settling and retiring from his notary practice back in Penticton. Throughout his life, Bill has been an ardent supporter of education, having served on the Penticton School Board and the board of Okanagan College. He was always guided by his faith and enjoyed the community of his church and serving on the Parish Council. He was a peerless Notary Public, a dedicated volunteer with the RCMP Auxiliary and a proud Rotarian.

But most of all, Bill was a genuinely loving and kind person who never failed to faithfully support his family and friends and serve his community with passion and dedication. A remembrance ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 11:00 am.  It will be held at St. Ann’s Church, 1296 Main Street, Penticton, B.C. In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation in Bill’s name be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.

To Bev and family, we were so very sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. We knew Bill from our local business interactions. Also as a fellow member of the Penticton Rotary Club. Bill’s heart was always bigger that himself and he was always a hardworking volunteer on the various community projects sponsored by the club. He always had a “loud” hello… for everyone and was first to step and help a fellow member whenever needed. He loved to “tease” everyone and made all occasions and interactions a hoot…!! We shall truly miss him, but will think of him often.
Our sincerest condolences. Neal & Sheila Davies.

Sorry that you have lost Bill, he sure was larger than life. We enjoyed meeting him in his office for our numerous notary services. He was always relaxed and funny and we felt at ease when doing business with him. Sincere condolences from Mike and Louise Krekic from Penticton.

My condolences to you Bev and to your family. I left Penticton in August and only recently learned of Bills passing. I worked as a conveyancer for 40 years in Penticton and had lots of contacts with Bill back to his Real Estate days. He was a pleasure to work with and always in a jolly mood. I will always remember his hearty laugh. He will be missed by lots. Rest In Peace Bill.
