Blake William McCarthy

Obituary
Blake William McCarthy was born July 24th, 1992 in Penticton. He grew up in the Okanagan, Montreal, Quebec, and Phoenix, Arizona. His life was cut short on December, 22nd, 2022, at the young age of 30.
He is survived by his mother, Lori Rodd, as well as his sisters Amy Rodd, Chloé Rodd-Ponomareff, brother Gabriel Rodd and grandparents Linda and Peter Rodd. He also had a large extended family that will miss him greatly. He leaves behind his girlfriend, Maria Holmes. Blake was preceded in death by his beloved uncle Michael Rodd, his great-grandma Theresa Wanlin, and his dogs Hurricane and Hurricane Jr.
Although large in his height and muscular frame, Blake had a gentle heart and a love for animals. Blake loved his friends and family, and made an impression on many. He was creative in music, art, writing, and had a green thumb. Blake loved to joke around but was also serious and a deep thinker. He loved to read, and stay aware of what was going on in the world around him. Blake was a handsome young man with a beautiful dimpled-smile, but he remained humble.
A memorial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Moms Stop the Harm (https://www.momsstoptheharm.com) and the Penticton Overdose Prevention Society (https://pentictonoverdoseprevention.wordpress.com) who are both advocating to stop the pain of losing loved ones to substance use and overdose.
