Bradley John Nichol

January 22, 1976 - January 27, 2024

Obituary

It is with shock and profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Bradley(Brad) John Nichol on January 27, 2024 at the age of 48 years old.
Brad was raised in North Vancouver by his loving parents, Linda and John Nichol, and alongside his sister, Katherine. He spoke often of the lasting friendships he’d made through his formative years. After high school, Brad’s love for cooking inspired him to attend culinary school; he quickly realised, however, it was time in his personal kitchen that he loved best. Stepping up to cook at family get-togethers and holiday meals was a challenge he always
embraced and delivered without fail. A career in HR is where Brad earned a reputation as a reliable and dedicated colleague, last year marked a pinnacle in his professional life as he successfully earned an MBA from Simon Fraser University while juggling a full-time job and busy family. Brad was defined by his love for his family. Sandwiches at Spanish Banks and getaways to
Tulameen were just the beginning of the life he began to build with his wife, Carly. He loved learning new things and embracing the opportunities of his well rounded life. After Brad received his first drill set as a gift, there weren’t many things he didn’t think he could fix, typically after a little research on YouTube and with country music playing in the background. Brad was a devoted and gentle father to their sons, Zachary and William. Nothing brought Brad more happiness than encouraging dance parties in the living room, sitting at the beach enjoying sunsets, being the DJ at hockey games, and watching the growth of his son’s abilities at baseball. Brad demonstrated his love for his family every day with the simple tasks that kept him present and engaged. Teaching the boys to read, practising spelling words, singing before bed or playing tag with the dog are only a few of the little things that
made him a special piece of his team. It didn’t take much to convince Brad to take time off work to load the truck and trailer for family adventures. Providing for his family and making a life they could enjoy was always at the forefront of his mind – he gave his family the ability to make memories full of love. His commitment extended to his community, Brad cared deeply about making where he lived a better place. He enjoyed spending his time with new and old friends while he volunteered. Supporting school events, coaching baseball and recently taking a roll on the South Okanagan Minor Baseball Association brought him immense joy and sense of purpose. Brad will be missed by the many people who were lucky enough to see his smile, have him listen to their stories, share a beverage around the fire and experience his love for karaoke. He leaves behind his wife Carly, his children Zachary and William, parents Linda and John, sister Katherine (Phil), nieces, nephew and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held outside in the summer, just as Brad would like it. In lieu of flowers, the family has chosen to honour the memory of Brad by creating a future fund for his sons.
