This young man and my son Aaron were pals in school. Curtis was at our house often and became like a son to me. Hits hard to hear of his passing, my heart hurts, my thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends. Gonna miss you ‘Tis ❤️❤️

Curtis and I were volleyball teammates in Jr high. Stunned by this, sending my best to his family and loved ones.

From: Rob Wood

I began my teaching career 22 years ago and Curtis was in my grade 6 class. Big personality, quite a character, a real leader in many respects. I won’t ever forget the massive improvement he made that year in his reading and the epic touch football games we would play at lunch. Through Junior High school I coached Curtis in volleyball and badminton. He was a good athlete and used his left handedness to advantage on the court in both sports.

Years later I had some flooding in my basement and the insurance company arranged for disaster services to come to my home. Once dried out, the restoration company told me a trades guy would make a visit to assess and talk about fixing everything. A knock on the door and there was Curtis standing on my front porch. We just chatted and caught up on time for about an hour before even going into the basement. Once he took a look at the damage he just looked at me and, “no sweat, I got this”. After doing all of the necessary work he went way beyond painting the entire basement, a bedroom and bathroom that was unaffected by the water damage as well as a custom built-in. Hours and hours of additional work that I came to learn later on he did on his own time, after his regular day. Man, what a kid.

I recently needed some more work done at my home. We chatted about six weeks ago and he said he could possibly help me out on one of his trips back to Lethbridge. Sadly, this did not happen. The news of Curtis’ passing has really shaken me. I loved that kid.

I hope you are at peace, young man. I also sincerely hope that the surviving family can find the peace and comfort that sometimes only time can bring.

Until we meet again, Curtis.

-Mr. Wood

My favourite memory of Curty was when I was 9 years old and we went on a ski trip with the family. After feeling comfortable on the bunny hill, Curty took me up the chair lift to the next level hill. We got off and began gliding down. I quickly realized that I was out of my league and panicked. I started to cry and Curty stopped , came over to me and helped me take off my skis. He took his off too and proceeded to walk me down the hill while carrying all four of our skis. He was annoyed but he was my hero in that moment. I felt so cared for. I will always hold onto that. Love you big brother ❤️

I am very sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Curtis. I first met Curtis in grade 7 at Gilbert Patterson…we had a lot of the same classes together up until our graduation in 2005 at LCI.
We lost contact after grad like most of us did but he found me on facebook last year. We always kept in touch. He loved his family and friends but his love for his kids is what shined. Curtis was a great man…he had a kind heart…I will miss the chats we had on life and how proud we were of eachother on how far we have come.
Im so sorry for your loss. Truly ❤
