David Edward Kampe

August 15, 1941 - May 8, 2019

Obituary

I will arise and go now, for always night and day

I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;

While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,

I hear it in the deep heart’s core.

                                 -Yeats The Lake Isle if Innisfree

The family of David Edward Kampe August 16, 1941-May 8, 2019, is remembering his life. We are surrounded of reminders of his kind and caring nature, his love for his community and appreciation for home cooked food, fresh Okanagan fruits and vegetables, and love for being on the lake. As we loved you, so we miss you; and when we are at the lake we know we are with you. Missing David is his brother Victor and Kathleen Kampe, niece Vickie and Minas, nephew Todd and Anona, and 5 great nieces and nephews; many loyal friends, employees and colleagues. David’s legacy was philanthropy, he made many generous contributions to his beloved community over the years, in family entertainment, health care, local sports, and education. David believed in building the future through education. His generosity continues in the Penticton Secondary Schools Bursary and Scholarship Foundation. Help us honour David Kampe’s legacy with your own acts of kindness and contributions to the Penticton Secondary Schools Bursary and Scholarship Foundation (mailing address: 158 Eckhardt Ave East Penticton BC, V2A 1Z3. I did not personally know Mr Kampe, but he has set the bar high for all of us!!  Such a giving individual!!  RIP and condolences to you family and the Peter Bros crew!!

From: Kelly McKay

You were a good and kind man.  You did so many great things, but I will remember you best for your loving treatment of your Sister Isabel and how kindly you donated to people with disabilities thereafter.  Thank you for all the generous  things you did over the years.  You were well loved  and revered by all of us in Penticton.

I never met Mr Kampe, but I will never forget how much he did for Penticton. What a beautiful example of giving back to your community. There probably isn’t one person in this town who hasn’t benefitted from his generosity. My condolences to his family, friends & everyone at Peter Bros. RIP Mr. Kampe ❤️

David was a courageous and generous man who I met only 3 times while putting together a tribute Picture Postage Stamp of him, and a Commemorative Postal Cover to honor the April 29th, 2019 Official Opening of the David E. Kampe Hospital Tower. The Penticton & District Stamp Club could not have shared as many Free Covers to  the members of the community without the financial support of David. Thanks David!!

I recently became acutely aware of Mr Kampe’s legacy following a serious bicycle accident near Penticton, in which I suffered broken neck vertebrae and some spinal column damage. The equipment and hospital surroundings at Penticton Regional Hospital were first class as were the personnel caring for us all. Thank you David Kampe!  That we should be worthy of your generous and kind nature. Through your example may we all be kinder and more caring,  without exception, toward each other. Yours is a name that I carry with me for the rest of my life.

Thank you for your kind words Mr. Carlson. Our family hopes you are recovering well, and share in the gratitude that state of the art medic equipment is right here in our community. We wish you well ❤️ V
