Diane Susan Parsons (Duggan)

Obituary
It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved Mom, Sister, Aunt and Friend, Diane Susan Parsons. Diane remains with us in spirit but is now together with her late husband Russ, to whom she was married for 40 years. Diane will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by sons Ryan and Brad, siblings Ray (Andrew), Bob (Mary Jo), Mary (Bruno), Jim (Tracey), the Parsons (Russ) family, and many extended family and lifelong friends. Diane was last employed at Douglas College for 10 years, before retiring in 2012 and moving to Summerland, BC. Residing in the Okanagan lent well to Mom’s favourite activities, such as travelling, festivals, farmer’s markets, volunteering, wine tastings, walking, swimming, biking, reading, singing, and socializing. She was excited for the future and had plans to travel abroad and remodel her condo that she just moved into. Diane was deeply spiritual and has a close relationship with the Catholic Church, where she was well liked and was very supportive of all the church activities. She will be remembered as having a good sense of humour, big smile, a beautiful radiant twinkle in her eyes, as well as a deep caring for all of her family and friends. A prayer service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 6:00 pm, at The Church Of The Holy Child Catholic Church, 14010 Rosedale Avenue Summerland, BC. A funeral mass will follow, Saturday, May 28, 2022, at The Church Of The Holy Child at 11:00 am.

Dear Ryan and Brad,
I worked very closely with your mom at Douglas College for many years. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. My sincere condolences to you both and your families. Sitting side by side, Diane shared many stories of you both and of your father. She was very proud of you. Diane was a kind and thoughtful person to work with… I teased her leading up to her retirement that she had to write everything down that she knew or else she couldn’t go! She was a wealth of knowledge and shared it freely. She was a great person to work with. I will always remember her as the kind, gentle woman she was with her beautiful blue eyes and smile 🙂

So sorry to hear of Diane passing, we lost touch over the years. Seeing each other at reunions and such, I didn’t realize she had moved to the Okanagan. We went to St. Andrews together. This earth has lost a wonderful person.

The inurnment ceremony for Diane Susan Parsons will take place on Monday May 1, 2023 at Noon at Ocean View Burial Park at 4000 Imperial St. in Burnaby B.C. near Central Park.
You are invited to gather afterwards at the Scandinavian Community Centre at 6540 Thomas St., also in Burnaby, for light refreshments and to share memories of Diane and her life.
