Obituary
Donald Carl Kamaranski of Penticton BC and beloved husband of Katherine (nee McGregor) passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on March 3, 2020 at the age of 80 years. Donald was born on August 10, 1939 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Don married the love of his life, Katherine, in 1963 and from that day on they were always together. Don was a loving husband, wonderful dad and proud Dee Dee. Don was a successful small business owner for over 50 years. He was happiest spending time with family and friends at their cottage on Lake Shebandowan. He was a hard working man but knew how to laugh and have fun. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He could be seen every weekend in the summer driving the boat with his girls being towed behind on their boards. Don was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Besides his loving wife Katherine, Don is survived by his two daughters Laura (Roy MacNeil) and Lisa (Dan Lankinen), and grandchildren Cameron and Nicholas Lankinen. Don was predeceased by his parents Angus and Sophie, brother Bill and sisters: Nellie, Minnie and Alice. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Those who wish memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, 35 Backstreet Blvd, Penticton BC, V2A 1H7. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

I called you “Mr. K.” when my best friend, your daughter Lisa, introduced me to you. You became someone I admired with your hardworking side and appreciated with your giving side. And while I haven’t seen you in years now, I know you will be greatly missed. ((Hugs)) to the entire family. Much L♡VE.

When I read about your loss, I re-lived my own. My sincere sympathies, Kath…You are so lucky to have Laura and Lisa and your grandkids close by. May their love and support help lift the sorrow from your heart, and may many great memories from long ago be a comfort in the days ahead…I remember weekends at Shebandowan, bridge games, turkeys on the BBQ, ‘Smokehouse’ at Kashaks, and SO much more…those were the days, my friend – we thought they’d never end, didn’t we? My thoughts and prayers are with you all

Dear Kay and family,
We were saddened to read of the passing of Don. Our condolences to all of you at this very sad time.
Many years ago November, 1988 to be exact ( I kept the bill ) I had the pleasure of walking into Ideal Kitchen in Westfort and ordered my cupboards that I still have today. It was my first encounter with Don and also you Kay and also Laura who handled the “money”.
Throughout the years I had to see you for minor things. The one I remember the most was when we were having a problem with our kitchen faucet. The conversation was between you and I Kay and at the end of my many questions I asked if Don did house calls – you were laughing when you asked Don and then he started as well as did I. He did come by the way, but couldn’t order the part we needed. I provided a good chuckle that day for sure, and one I won’t forget any time soon.
Ideal Kitchen was never the same after it was sold – there is something to be said about a family run business!
Don will be missed not only by all of you , but by the many, many folks who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Our deepest sympathy to you Kay and your girls. We will always remember Don reeling in the tire in front of our dock! What a laugh that was! Keeping you in our thoughts. Bob and Gayle Ikola
