Donald Bruce Thompson

May 29, 1944 - June 22, 2024


Passed away quietly at Sunnybank Retirement Center on June 22,2024.  He was born in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada on May 29, 1944. Don joined the Canadian military May 24, 1966 and spend 26 years working for military in the army transport division, with postings within Canada, Germany, and Cypris before retiring June 30, 1992. He then moved back to Okanagan Falls, B.C. and worked various local jobs including working for The Thomas Ranch, Morris Reed’s Post Mill and the O.K. falls stock yards.

Don’s hobbies included reading and meat draws at the local legion, Westerner movies and TV and drinking with his wife. He also enjoyed fighting with his granddaughter over possession of her comfort blanket.

Don is survived by his daughter Dunja Grover (nee Thompson), son Mark Thompson, Grand Children Teresa Grover, and Krystina Grover, brother Grant Thompson and sister-in-law Sharon Thompson. He is predeceased by his parents John and Mildred (Evelyn) Thompson, his wife Urike Thompson (nee Henneke), brothers Ken and Morris Thompson, and sisters Yvonne (Bonnie) Cumberland, and Joyce Lafebvre. He will be missed, as well, by many nieces, nephews, their families, and many friends. All those that knew him have many precious memories of Don and he will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday June 27, 2024 at the Okanagan Falls Royal Canadian Legion Branch 227, 5009 Veterans Way, Okanagan Falls, BC, V0H 1R0 starting at 2pm.
