Obituary
Donald Warren Williams of Penticton, loving husband and father of 7, passed away on October 18, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
Don was born on the farm in Saskatchewan, delivered by his father, during a snowstorm. When he was 1 years old, Ruby and Warren packed up the Model T with Scott and Don, put the dog in his cage strapped to the running board and headed west to B.C. They made their home in Penticton where Don resided for the remainder of his life. Don was known for his warm smile and kind, patient spirit. His many hobbies included fly-tying, woodworking and carpentry. He loved fishing, hunting and scuba diving. He passed on his love of the outdoors to his children through numerous memorable and adventurous family camping trips (Gloria, 7 children, the family dog, a camper and several tents). Don and his family enjoyed many years of recreation at ‘The Cabin’ which he built from the ground up (including the windows) at St. Ives, Shuswap. Together Gloria and Don travelled to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Barbados, U.S. destinations and spent 6 warm winters in Arizona. Don was a member of the Rod and Gun Club and Penticton Search and Rescue. His fondest pleasure in later years was spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 dogs, Flora and Mia.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria. 4 daughters; Loni Williams (Klaus Kollmann), Leslie Nevens (Rick Forgan) of Penticton, Karen (Randy) Clark of Barriere and Cheryl (Stanley) Klegr of New Zealand. 3 sons; Randy Williams (Sylvia Travis), Tim Williams (Eden Seb-at) of Vancouver, Terry Nevens of Okanagan Falls. 11 grandchildren; Amy (Luis) Acosta, Eileen (Nikola) Milicevic, Rebecca (Matthew) Lundin, Fawn Clark (Greg Moynan), Robyn (Brian) Clark, Brandon (Kelsey) Legault, Corey Legault (Jessica Logie), Stania and Sawyer Klegr, Landon Williams, Ricki Forgan and 12 great grandchildren. 2 sisters; Betty (Jack) Lawson and Shirley (Phil) Morgan as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and their families. Don was predeceased by his parents Warren and Ruby Williams, his brother Scott Williams, his first wife Bernice Williams (nee Perritt) and one great grandchild.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Paisley as well as the doctors and nurses at the Penticton Regional Hospital medical and renal units who cared for Don this past year. A special thank you to Corrina and Megan from Community Support Services for their kind and compassionate care.
