Obituary

Elisabeth Marie Ummenhofer of Penticton, beloved wife of the late August Johann Ummenhofer, passed away suddenly on February 24th, 2021 at the age of 83 years. Elisabeth was born on September 24th, 1937, in Frankfurt, Germany and emigrated to Canada in 1959 to marry Gus. They lived in Vancouver for several years, where their only child, Michael, was born, before moving to Powell River, where Gus and Liz opened a successful bakery. In 1974, the family moved to Williams Lake and Liz started a lengthy career with the Bank of Montreal and later retired to Penticton. Liz was a wonderful cook, a generous host and will be missed by all those who new her. Liz and Gus did extensive camping through-out BC and the Yukon and enjoyed taking their grandchildren on these excursions. The girls will always remember their camping trips with Gus and Liz. Liz made sure the girls did “Home Work” while camping.     

Elisabeth is survived by her Son, Michael, Daughter in law, Jill and her three Grandchildren Kristina, Erika & Mikayla and their respective partners Jordan, Codie & Adam. We wish to thank Dr. Pugachev and the staff on the 5th floor of PRH for their kindness, professionalism and dutiful care during my Mother’s time of need– and a particular thank you to both Stephanie and Cynthia.
