Obituary

Gisela Passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 2, 2020 at the Moog and Friends Hospice House in Penticton, at the age of 82 years. Gisela is survived by her loving daughter Gitta Schoenne, her  son Jim Schoenne (Shelley) and daughter-in-law Lynn Schoenne.  Grandchildren, Louise, Joey, Lindsey, Chris, Darian, Daphne, Adra and Emry. Great Grandchildren; Lola and Jacklyn. Gisela was predeceased by her loving husband Josef Schoenne (2005) and her son Bruce Schoenne (2017). Gisela was born and raised in Munchen Gladbach, Germany.  In 1956 she met Joe where he proposed to her the night he met her.  Joe moved to Yellow Knife with the promise that he would send for her once he secured a job and home for her.  Joe and Gisela corresponded for over 1 year via mail before he finally flew mom to Canada.  They were married the day she arrived. In 1959, Joe and Gisela moved to Edmonton where Dad purchased his own taxi cab and they both made a successful living driving for Yellow Cab.  In 1960 Bruce was born and a short 13 months later, the twins Gitta and Jim were born… In 1971, the family moved to Coquitlam where Joe and Gisela became a successful real estate team with Block Bros. In 1974 the family settled in Penticton BC.  Gisela’s final career was in nursing…she decided to get her LPN in her late 40’s.   Mom worked at Penticton Regional Hospital for over 10 years making many friends who recognized and remembered her throughout her care in the end. I big thank you to Marlene, her best friend and all of the staff at Moog and Friends Hospice for the exemplary care you showed her in the end…

We will miss you always mom and love you forever..
