Obituary
John Klit of Trail, BC beloved husband of Joan Klit passed away on October 21, 2023 at the age of 87 years. Born on November 22, 1935 in Trail BC. After John was done school, he made his way to Williams Lake BC to work at a lumber mill. Shortly after he returned to Trail and found a job at CNN with the CP Express. John soon found his way to Cominco for almost 40 years, where he retired in 1992. He then spent time at Woodbury Resort on Kootenay Lake fishing and helping develop the campground. John was a very creative man and in 1961 he began to construct and build his home. This home became a life long project with him building a Koi Fish Pond and he developed a passion for model trains and villages which took up a large portion of his basement. John was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles for 52 years. As an active member, he held many positions and was awarded for many of his achievements. He was appointed Grand Aerie Father as well John was inducted into the BC Provincial Hall of Fame for the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Besides his loving wife, John is survived by his 2 daughters, Cathy Borsato (spouse John), Karen Berg (spouse Gerald), 4 sons, Gordon (spouse Michelle), Rob, Michael (spouse Darlene), Jason (spouse Monique), 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 on the way, sister in law Glenn, 1 brother Einer as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Besides his loving wife John was predeceased by his parents Soren Paulsen Klit, Metthea Marie (nee Jensen), brothers Paul, Arnold, Henry, George and Edward. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday October 28, 2023 at Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall, Penticton, BC, 1197 Main Street. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation (Cardiac), 550 Carmi Ave, Penticton, BC, V2A 3G6. I’m very sorry to hear of John’s passing. While it’s been many years, I have fond memories of him from my time spent as a child at Woodbury.
I often spent time with our parents, sitting out on John and Joan’s lot, overlooking the beach, and sharing stories.
