Obituary

KUGI, Kathleen

July 26, 1952 – June 15, 2022

Kathleen passed away peacefully on June 15, 2022 at Moog and Friends Hospice House after a 5 year battle with cancer.  She is survived by her son Michael (Erin), granddaughter Scarlett, grandson Miles, brothers and sisters-in-law John (Kelly), Rob (Tracy), Harald, Mario (Dianne), and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.  Kathleen was born in Winnipeg and moved to Penticton in 1956, where she would meet the love of her life, Max. Kathleen and Max married February 29th, 1971.  Kathleen would go on to have a distinguished career at CIBC and was loved by clients and co-workers alike. Kathleen was a wonderful mom and a cherished Nana. She will be missed dearly by those who knew her. Sadly Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Max, parents Norman and Kay Burnside, brother Craig, and aunt Joyce Thoren.  A graveside service will be held on June 30th, 2022 at 11 am at Lakeview Cemetery, where Max and Kathleen will be laid to rest together.  In lieu of flowers please donate to Moog and Friends Hospice House or a cancer charity of your choice.

From: Colleen Cole

Kathleen was such a wonderful person. She will be greatly missed.

From: Doug Shirlaw
Relation: Worked with her late husband, Max.

I knew Kathleen through her late husband, Max, who I had worked with. Kathleen provided me with some treasured photos of Max that our squad had framed and given to him upon his retirement from the Vancouver Police. A lovely lady who was always gracious and very caring of Max throughout my dealings with her. My condolences to the family and I’m sure they all know how fortunate they were to have Kathleen and Max as parents and family members.
