Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Leslie Adam Proudfoot, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Les passed away on February 11, 2024.and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn; three children, Debbie, Rob (Barbara), and Jim (Carmen); and grandchildren, Quinn, Kamen (Carly), Coleson (Coleman) and Taylor (Ashley). He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Timmy, his brother Andy (Ivy), and four great-grandchildren.Les was born on January 29, 1937, in Delia, Alberta. He was the third of six children. In 1954, the Proudfoot family moved from Turner Valley to Kamloops, where Les attended high school and met his future wife, Evelyn. After graduating from high school, he attended Vancouver Teachers College and accepted a teaching position in Penticton. He spent much of his teaching career at McNicoll Park School, teaching math and social studies. He continued to further his education, earning both a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s degree in Education.Les was an avid sports enthusiast, cheering on his favorite professional teams as well as the amateur teams he coached in hockey, baseball, volleyball and soccer. After retiring from teaching, he played golf at least three days a week. He was also an avid reader and enjoyer of puzzles.

Les was a gentle and inquisitive man who was happy with the simple pleasures life provided. He always put the needs of his family first. His presence will be missed.A celebration of Les’s life will be held on August 12th at the Penticton Golf and Country Club from 3pm to 5pm.
