Margaret Rose Rusu

June 25, 1937 - August 1, 2019

Obituary

Margaret Rose Rusu (née Vinton), aged 82,  passed into eternal life with our Lord on August 1st, 2019 in Summerland, British Columbia. Loving wife of Constantin Rusu with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage. Much loved and devoted mother of Mary-Jo Rusu and Christina Lucier. Cherished grandmother of Celine, Janelle, and Joshua Lucier. She lived in Windsor, Ontario with her dear husband Constantin up until five years ago when they moved to Penticton, BC and experienced the beauty of the beaches, mountains, festivals and trips to Alaska, Victoria and Disneyland. Margaret Rose was born in Detroit, Michigan to Evelyn and William Vinton and was the youngest sister to Edwin, Peter, Dorothy, Joesph and Harold. She put all her trust in God and never stopped living the spiritual life she began as a Sister Mary Celine in the order of St. Joesph (Nazareth, Michigan) which she entered into at the tender age of sixteen, and where she received her college education and became a school teacher. She humbly surrendered her vocation out of love for her parents and started a new life as a devoted wife and caring mother. She shared her love of God, kindness, generosity, and acts of service with her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family in the US, Romania and England, the elderly, and with friends, neighbors and many cats. She was a life-long learner who also trained to be a Nursing Aid and served as a eucharistic minister, choir member and active member of the Catholic Women’s League at Most Precious Blood Church which she organized children’s games booths at the bazaar and Christmas gift wrapping drives for. She was also a marvelous baker and Cornish pasty maker who  enjoyed giving gifts, creating beautiful holidays, and had a love of Walt Disney World, Winnie the Pooh, teaching children how to read and singing hymns. Her compassion, spirited determination, patience and love has touched many lives forever. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, Costache Mazuru, his wife Elena, children Mihai and Florentina, and grandchild Edward, Niculena and Florin Breazu, many nieces and nephews, God-children, the Lucier family, and those she knew in Windsor, Ontario, the United States, Romania and England. Special thanks to Shannon Delves, Mandeep Kaur and Stefan Beinz who provided loving care in her final years. We are especially grateful to Pat Lucier and the members of the Lucier family who provided love and support during our parents transition to British ColumbiaA prayer vigil and visitation will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8th  and a funeral mass will take place on Friday, August 9th at 9 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1296 Main Street in Penticton followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
