Mary Susan Kemp
October 1, 1950 - July 10, 2024
Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Susan Kemp (née Sargent), beloved wife of 53 years to Wayne Kemp. Susan passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, at the age of 73, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by her family. Born in Listowel in 1950, Susan was the eldest of three children, survived by her sister Joanne Heimpel (Larry) and brother Marc Sargent (Laurel). She was an integral part of a dynamic family involved with the Canadian Forces. Susan spent much of her teenage years in Germany before returning to Trenton, where she met and married the love of her life, Wayne. Most of their married life was spent in Southwestern Ontario, with the last four years spent as cherished members of the Penticton, BC community. Susan was the loving mother of two children, Jennifer Givlin (Dan) and Andrew Kemp (Carla). She was a beloved grandmother to Victoria Givlin (Steve), Benjamin Givlin (Jessica), and Darren Givlin (Claire), and a loving great-grandmother to Arielle and James Givlin. Susan and Wayne were proudly involved with the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Association for decades, breeding and raising loving, happy, friendly Wheatens. In business, Susan led a family of entrepreneurs, starting her latest career at 59 by opening her own auction business with a focus on helping families through their challenging times. Susan will be remembered for her warm spirit, kind heart, and the love she shared with those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held later this fall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Wayne and the family extend their gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time.
