Robert George Henry Gudeit

January 4, 1942 - December 1, 2021

Obituary

Just shy of his January 4th 80th birthday, Robert George Henry Gudeit passed away on December 1st 2021. He is survived by his daughters Vivian (Bob) Evans and LeeAnn Gudeit and his grandchildren Clair Fromme and Jamie Evans. Robert came from a large family of 5 children, Herb Gudeit, Maureen (Norman) Hoogers, Gordon (Colene) Gudeit and Leonard (Shelley) Gudeit. With close to 30 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins he was blessed with an abundance of family. Predeceased by his parents William and Mona (Hopp) Gudeit, he more recently lost his beloved wife Darlene (LeBlanc) Gudeit and kind hearted daughter Lana Gudeit and we are comforted with the idea of him being reunited with those he so deeply missed.
'Boulder Bob' was renown for his incredible work ethic, unequalled equipment operator skills and equally strong temper, but those who he loved knew he was just as fierce of a protector.  He had hands the size of baseball mitts that were forever calloused and scarred but his heart was equally as large.
The Gudeit family permanently left Needles and moved to the Lumby area in the 1950's. All four boys had successful careers in logging and became integral part of their communities while his sister worked successfully as an LPN in Alberta while raising a family of 4.
A memorial will be planned for the spring when travel will be easier for all who want to attend. He will be deeply missed as tough, steady models like him are no longer made.

From: Judy Halliday

I’ve known Bob for years through his association with Finning Tractor. He spent a lot of time in our office and I always enjoyed seeing him come in the door for coffee. Rest in peace Bob and my heartfelt condolences to his family. Sincerely, Judy Halliday
