Robert Michael Labossiere

November 4, 1939 - March 4, 2020

Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mic (Mickey) Labossiere on March 4th, 2020 at the Moog & Friends Hospice House after a very short illness. He has now joined his lifelong sweetheart and wife Frances (Fran) Labossiere on their 69th cruise together in heaven. Our hearts are broken but we will hold close our wonderful memories of Mic, a devoted and loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Mic’s family was always his first priority and 2nd priority during his working years was owning & managing the IGA in Summerland. Family extended to those who were related by blood and as a friend you were as much as a part of the family as the others, even including all of the four-legged friends that he loved and cared for. Trout Creek was always full of family and friends visiting, so many of the nieces and nephews have memories of their summers with Uncle Mic and Auntie Fran in Trout Creek enjoying family time at the pool and lake. This continued when it was just Mic, opening his home to those who would stop by to visit and specially if they would sit and talk about his dear Fran.

In his retirement years Mic love to travel with Fran and his close friends Ted and Diana Vogt, Jack and Pat Allen, and Pat and Tony Michaels. The adventures they had together, and sometimes the kids (Mark, Ken, Steve, Wendy and spouses), were fortunate to join them on some of these adventures. The trips always centered around family fun including happy hour, card games, and making and enjoying meals together. Mic has passed his love of travel and cruising as well as loving his family fiercely on to all his children and grandchildren. If Mic wasn’t traveling, he was hunting down the next trip on the internet or at the cabin fishing with his buddies. Mic was generous with his opinions, but always generous with his support of others and had a big heart that he did his best to hide. He was our rough, tough, cream puff.

Mic will forever be cherished by son Mark and grandson Adam; son Ken, daughter-in-law, Debbie, granddaughter Sydney, her husband Kelley (Frame), great granddaughter Sophie and granddaughter Jennifer; son Steven, partner Michelle (Thickett-Flynn), grandson Connor and granddaughter Angela; daughter Wendy, son-in-law Bruce (Crowe), grandson Bradley and his wife Lindsey. We would like to thank the angels at Penticton Regional Hospital and Moog & Friends Hospice House that took care of Mic. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Moog & Friends Hospice House via Penticton & District Hospice Society, P.O. Box 1105, Penticton, BC, V2A 6J9.

We will miss Dad (Mic) forever but are comforted in the fact that he is reunited with our mother, Fran. The family will hold a celebration of life this summer, date to be determined.

Most of my memories of my oldest brother was the two of us growing up together on 47th Street in Vancouver, BC.  We were less than 2 years apart in age so we were always together.  Going to matinees on Saturday afternoon then coming home and acting out the movie we saw.  Riding our bikes together down the hill, play with Mickey’s electric train.  Swinging on the swings dad put in the basement.  Rolling around in the back yard, just for the fun of it.  We both had great imaginations so we always used them.  Because it rained so much in Vancouver, we would get the big umbrella out and sit in the front yard huddled under it just so we could be outside.  My memories of Mickey are very precious to me and I will miss talking to him on the phone.  I know he is with Fran and is not suffering.  Mickey, your sister misses you very much.
