Sharon Grace Howell

August 20, 1945 - August 11, 2022

Obituary

Sharon Grace Howell, 76, passed away on August 11th at the Moog & Friends Hospice House, following a 9-year battle with lung cancer. Sharon is survived by her dearly loved husband, Clair (Bud) Howell; two children, Rhonda Zakala and Darren Finch; and three grandchildren Josh & Kyle Zakala and Logan McNeely-Finch. She was predeceased by her parents, Audrey & Wilfred Grant.

A graduate of Penticton High school, Sharon went on to work for the tax department and school board. Sharon met Bud in 1980 and were married on March 30, 1985.  They briefly relocated to the coast where Sharon worked for the Richmond General Hospital before retiring to Naramata. Sharon had a passion for gardening – canning and making beautiful meals with everything she produced – along with her thirst for reading, music, exploring and camping throughout BC and the Pacific Northwest with her husband and beloved bearded-collie Carly. Sharon loved her friends, family, grandchildren and many pets, and filled her home with warmth, laughter and love. She lived her life like a quote from Audrey Hepburn – “ To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Moog & Friends Hospice House at https://www.pentictonhospice.com/donate/ .

A small Celebration of Life is in the works for September and will be updated via www.kettlevalleymemorial.ca Sharon will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched.

Bud and family. I am so sorry to hear of Sharon’s passing. She was a lovely warm person and will be truly missed. I remember our first meeting when I worked at the School Board Office and how welcoming she was when I started there, and all the memories after that. -Arlene
