Sherrie Elizabeth Scott

December 31, 1952 - March 24, 2020

Obituary

Sherrie passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus on the evening of March 24, 2020, with her family by her side. Sherrie was the daughter of Charles Frederick and Blanche Marie Overton and the youngest of nine siblings. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her children, Christopher Scott (Karen) of Edmonton, AB, Melissa Johnson (Luke) of Summerland,BC, Michael Scott of Fort McMurray, AB, and Anne Scott (Mike Papple) of Penticton, BC. As well as her grandchildren Emily, Peyton, Lorelai, Jaida, Avery, Brielle, Cullen, Sarah, Isla and Hartley. She is survived by her siblings; Helen Tarling (Jack) of Summerland, BC. Doreen Overton-Gaudet of Summerland, BC. Gene Overton (Mickey) of Smithers, BC. Jeanette McFadden-de Roux (Robyn) of Penticton, BC. Bonnie White of Robson, BC. Margaret Ducharme (Raymond) of Lund, BC. Gerald Overton of 150 Mile House, BC. Thelma Johnston (Bruce) of Penticton, BC. Sherrie was born in Penticton, BC but spent most of her younger years in Williams Lake, spending her summers at her family cabin at Quesnel Lake. In 1971, Sherrie was named Miss Lions at the Williams Lake Stampede before moving to Robson, BC to finish high school. It was in Robson that Sherrie met her ex-husband Dave Scott. Throughout the years, while raising their 4 children, they enjoyed camping, fishing, flying, and boating. Their many moves took them around British Columbia, Northwest Territories, and Alberta. Her favorite travels included Hawaii, where she went on several occasions with her family and sisters.

Sherrie relocated to the Okanagan in 2002 and worked as a bookkeeper. Here she enjoyed the sunshine and could be found swimming at the local beaches and pools. Her favorite times were spent with her grandkids, dancing and singing. Sherrie grew the most beautiful flower gardens and enjoyed watching the birds come to her garden and patio. Sherrie will be remembered as a loving daughter, a caring sister, and a faithful Christian. But most of all a wonderful mother, fun grandmother, good friend, and hard worker. With COVID-19 related restrictions, a private celebration of Sherrie’s Life will be held on Sunday, August 9th at 3:00 pm at the Summerland Baptist Church, 10318 Elliott Street, Summerland, BC.
