Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Stephen James Ingram at the age of 55 years old, on May 28, 2024, in Penticton, B.C. Steve was born on March 19, 1969, in Calgary. He is survived by his loving parents, Madeleine and Jim Ingram. He also shared a close friendship with his brother Ken, and fierce love for his son, Liam. Steve is survived by his cousins, Davey, Carolyn, Aubrey, Sheila, Jodi-Lee, Jarrett, Bev, Kathryn and Sharon. Also, his aunts and uncles, Dave & Alberta, Frank & Linda and Milly. Most of them living in Calgary. Steve grew up in Calgary in the community of Westgate. He attended Westgate Elementary, Vincent Massey Jr. High, and Ernest Manning High School. Steve then went on to the University of Calgary, where he completed his degree in Psychology.
Steve played all the sports a boy could play! He played hockey, baseball, softball, basketball all through his childhood alongside his brother Ken. Dad even built an outdoor rink in our back yard to play hockey. But the sport that gave Steve the most passion, was golf! A natural south paw! He was at the golf course every chance he had. Steve won the City of Calgary Junior Golf Championship in 1987. Steve also loved to dance and perform for crowds. Always happy, and making others smile with him! He joined the group “Dance with France” and would dance for hours, never stopping to take a break.
Steve continued to play golf, and some softball, until November 2005. That is when Steve switched all his attention and focus to the birth of his son. Liam brought the most joy into Steve’s life, watching him grow up to be the nice young man you see today. Steve’s other desire was to move to the Okanagan. To try and make a life where he spent a lot of his childhood summers visiting his Gran. She was Steve’s idol, he loved her, and always had a special connection with her. So, what better place to be, but in Penticton B.C. As Steve called it, “Our second home”.
A celebration of Stephen’s life with family and friends will be held at Scarboro United Church (134 Scarboro Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta) on September 28, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Steve will live on, in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

My heart is broken to hear of Steve’s passing. It had been a long time since I had seen him but I remember the young man I knew who was in University, all smiles, innocence and pure of heart. That’s how I choose to remember him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

My heart felt condolences go to the loved ones left here to deal with this loss. It is my sincere hope that one day you will be able to ride the waves of sadness that for now crash thru you. Some days it feels like a riptide taking you under and others days you can get a breath between each crash gasping for air. For awhile nothing feels right, for awhile he will never leave your waking thoughts, and for awhile you may want to scream at the injustice. Or, you may be numb and struggle to find the energy for living. However you respond this is the time to be kind loving and accepting of all your feelings because all of them are ok and necessary to your healing. And be patient…learning to navigate a loss takes longer than you think. Most of all know you WILL come thru this holding Steve in a new place in your heart 💜 he will be missed ❤️ lots of love to you all, from one of his childhood friends Erica Pilgrim
