Obituary

Lois passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on March 8, 2021, in Penticton, BC. She was the sixth of 8 children, born to Alvin and Jessie (Chisholm) Walker, in Boucherie (West Kelowna), BC.  She grew up in Westbank, BC, wandering the orchards and surrounding hillsides.   Predeceased by her parents, and siblings Clare, Grace, Al and John. Beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, nana, g-g, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Lois will be very missed by her loving husband Norman, daughters Cynthia (Michael), Elaine (Ken), Laurie (Marischal), Colleen (Peter), 11 grandchildren Krystyna, Alyssa (Tim), Gillian (Mick), Nadine (Jeremy), Kaeley (Travis), Brooke (Sandy), Alexis, Spencer (Ray), Max (Elysse), Drake (Emily), Lise, 3 great-grandchildren Eli, Ethan, Maddox, and a fourth on the way. Lois left the Okanagan in 1955 to attend Provincial Normal School in Victoria, BC, obtaining her teaching certificate.  There, she met the love of her life – Norman, a young navy seaman. They married in 1956, welcomed 4 daughters in 6 years and spent the next 25 years devoting themselves to family.  In retirement, Lois enjoyed the snowbird lifestyle in Southern California, finally settling in the South Okanagan, bringing her back to her roots and love of gardening.  Lois will be remembered for her love, kindness, strength, perseverance, and deep faith.  Family was of the greatest importance to her. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the family has made the decision to hold a private service, with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
